Affichage Animacom first opened for business in May 1985. Animacom was dealing in publicity, selling time slots on programable displays situated at Terminus Laval, as well as at the Outremont theater.
In 1987, Animacom began selling programmable display, which became its main business the following year. The company also provided installation and service for its displays. The company first big successes came between 1988 and 1990, when several displays were sold to build networks in major manufacturing industries. Organization such as General Motors, BF Goodrich, Weston and Scott Papers, used our displays primarly for internal communications and production data posting.
During the same period, Animacom broke into the institutional market with several installations in banks and schools. Information was now conveyed faster and with added efficiency, often in area where noise levels discouraged utilisation of audio-visuals systems.
As time marched on, Animacom continued its progression with growing numbers of sales and installations, gaining in complexity and size. Of those, we count the Société des Aéroports de Montréal, for both Mirabel and Dorval terminals, Canada Post and Camco.
We take particular pride in the sale and installation of the first tri-color outdoor LED sign in Québec in 1996, at S.P. Radial in Laval. In 1997, Animacom followed this success with the installation of three displays from American Electronics Signs, one of which is situated at the Canada/USA border post in Lacolle, Québec. Among new products added to our catalog, waiting line management systems, trafic signals and non-LED programmable displays. Furthermore, the company developped its message creation capabilities to meet the needs of its growing number of customers.
Outgrowing its previous facilities, Animacom completed its move to new offices mid-1997, situated 4914, Hochelaga St. in Montréal. Our new quarters include a showroom for our best selling products, as well as a bigger workshop, offering more space for our manufacturing activities, and our R&D. Animacom looks forward to the end of 1998, where its effort to obtain a ISO 9002 certification should blossom.
It is with great optimism for things to come that Animacom walks towards the next millenium, and we would like to thank all our customers and supplier, past and presents, for their support.
